INDUSTRY: B2B MEDICAL DEVICE

Reflex by Brightlamp

The Challenge

Brightlamp developed Reflex, an app-based neurological vitals test that measures the pupillary light reflex using just a smartphone camera – in 5 seconds. The technology was breakthrough: 90,000 tests conducted, 30,000 patients, 12 million data points, the largest living pupillometric database in the world, and a 2-year clinical trial with the Department of Defense involving 1,200 soldiers.

But “pupillometry” is a word nobody outside neuroscience has ever heard. The founder’s instinct was to explain the technology – mapping the nervous system, generating data points from the eye, measuring pupillary response. Technically precise, completely inaccessible. The challenge was making a deep-tech medical device feel both urgent and understandable to retail investors, while also speaking to clinicians who needed to see clinical validation.

Our Approach

We produced a campaign video and 3 social ads that transformed a complex neuroscience product into a story anyone could grasp in seconds. The strategy focused on:

The anchor metaphor. We positioned Reflex as “the check engine light for your brain” and “the blood pressure cuff of the brain” – two comparisons every person instantly understands. Nobody knows what pupillometry is. Everyone knows what a check engine light does.

The problem-solution arc. We didn’t start with Reflex. We started with the penlight – the inadequate tool doctors have used for decades, leading to misdiagnosis. Make the current state feel broken before introducing the solution.

Social proof architecture. We layered credibility in descending order of authority: Department of Defense clinical trial (highest), Dr. Saad Khairi, neurosurgeon and NFL Neurotrauma Consultant (expert endorsement), 210 clinics with 96% retention (market validation), and OpiAid research partnership (expansion potential). Each layer reinforces the last.

Data as narrative. “90% growth each year since 2019, with less than one million in funding” isn’t just a stat – it reframes the entire company as capital-efficient. It makes investors think: if they’ve done this with $1M, what happens with capital?

Selling the platform, not the product. The video closes with the future vision: Parkinson’s, depression, autism. We’re not pitching a concussion tool. We’re pitching a neurological platform. That’s what justifies the valuation.

Three social ads, three angles: (1) market opportunity – the $360B industry and the penlight problem, (2) social proof – Dr. Khairi and the DoD trial, (3) value proposition – 97% accuracy and the world’s largest pupillometric database.

The Results

Reflex Pro is now positioned as a game-changing tool in neurological diagnostics. The campaign video positioned Reflex not as a medical device pitch, but as a neurological platform investment thesis.

Raised $94,245.97 in capital, enabling the company to scale operations and meet growing demand.

Valuation Surge to $15.48 Million, signaling strong investor confidence and market potential.

Increased Product Awareness, expanding visibility and understanding of Reflex Pro among target audiences, leading to higher engagement and adoption rates.

Kurtis Sluss, CEO: “Thanks for being great and getting this done so quickly. Cheers!”
